How to Vote?

0. Preparation

  • Voting period is from Oct 1 to Oct 29.
  • Make sure you have enough MATIC balance in your wallet.
  • Please vote on PC (the best solution is via Metamask on Chrome). Voting via mobile may fail.
  1. Enter the PolyWhirl BUIDL page to vote for us.

Click to vote.

2. Connect your wallet and enter the votes you want to give. The Nth vote will cost N*1 MATIC, so if you’re going to give 3 votes, you need to give 1+2+3=6 MATIC.

3. Click confirm to finish.

4. To see the current ranking, please go to the leaderboard.

Frequently Asked Question

  1. Can I see my voting history?

For voters, the voting history is not available at the moment. But the project you voted can still get your address at the end of this hackathon.

2. Can I use bots to mass vote for some project?

Absolutely don’t do this. Botting and other ways of cheating will be detected by our anti-sybil attack mechanism (this is why we leave 3–5 days for a grace period.). If you use bots, actually it couldn’t help the project you support to get a share of the matching prize pool.

3. Can the project with more votes get a bigger share of the prize pool?

According to Quadratic Funding mechanism, popularity is the basis of the distribution of the prize pool. Basically, if a project gets support from more VOTERS (rather than votes), it will get more prizes at the end of the hackathon.

e.g A project with 10 votes from 10 voters gets more than a project with 10 votes from less voters.

4. Where will the MATIC I pay go?

All proceeds from the voting will be returned back to the voters after the round ends.

How to Switch to MATIC Mainnet on MetaMask?

  • Add Custom RPC in MetaMask
  • Enter in the Matic Mainnet settings as follows:
  • Network Name: Polygon
  • New RPC URL: https://rpc-mainnet.matic.network or
    https://rpc-mainnet.maticvigil.com or
    https://rpc-mainnet.matic.quiknode.pro
  • ChainID: 137
  • Symbol: MATIC
  • Block Explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com/

What is Quadratic Funding? How does it work?

Quadratic Voting is a voting scheme introduced and often discussed in the Radical Markets community. It is often considered an innovative improvement of the traditional 1-person-1-vote or 1-dollar-1-vote voting schemes. The simplified formula on how quadratic voting functions is

Cost to the voter = 1+2+3+…+ number of votes MATIC.

Individual community contributors can vote for their preferred projects to push them ahead in the funding round. The votes cost MATIC, which are directly donated to the respective projects after the round (which will later be redistributed back to the voters by us!)

With a quadratic funding algorithm, the cost of each vote to a single project from a single contributor will increase, this encourages community contributors to donate to more projects.

Quadratic Funding was later introduced to the blockchain community by the Gitcoin team by Gitcoin quadratic funding grants. Community members can donate cryptos to new projects to appreciate their effort in building public goods for a specific community. In previous Gitcoin Grants, community members donate ETH to the Ethereum ecosystem projects as community Grants to help them continuously get funded.

To know more about quadratic voting, you can check the Quadratic Funding algorithm by Vitalik Buterin.
